Surprised to see Death March do so well on the streaming sites, I enjoyed the show but compared to Overlord, Yuru Camp or Franxx it shouldn't stand a chance.

Japan is so much ahead. They know what's up!

Love Live Sunshine!! 2nd Season Volume 4 (37324)
Volume 4 (37324)
37324 sales of one Volume

That's over 9000 BDs per week. Most anime under 3 cours have a guaranteed sequel with one week of Love Live! Sunshine!!'s one volume of sales. I've been in Idol Hell for almost a year now, and it still boggles my head, just how much Lantis earns.

If I recall correctly, they bundle concert tickets (or lottery tickets for the concert ticket lottery) with the BD volumes, which may explain the high number.

≫Most anime under 3 cours have a guaranteed sequel with one week of Love Live! Sunshine!!'s one volume of sales.

I don't think that's exactly true or really a matter of how you spell this one out.

Whether BD/DVD sales above the expectation of the committee lead to a sequel always depends on the production committee of the show which is always unique. These sales can be unexpectedly high but not make much of a difference because the company aiming for this type of income is not ranked high and not willing to place higher in the committee for a possible sequel. The same works the other way around when even though a show tanks in BD/DVD sales it doesn't impact the overall financial success too much because of how the committee is built.

So yeah, saying that this is the case for most productions instead of individual situations in which several factors align is really stretching it. It certainly is the case for productions in which companies focused on video distribution are highly ranked or willing to take a large risk and invest way more for a sequel production but other than that it's really a mixed bag.

Clearly all those Lupin III twitter mentions are people playing the Lupin Game.

Really makes me happy that girls und panzer has so many sales. One of my fav shows and movies. Can't wait till I'm able to see das finale!

At least Shirou is still in the top 10.

Has any new Macross Delta stuff come out recently? I didn't expect to see Freyja on the list.

I don't think so?
She popped into top 10 in March, I think, so there's probably just an active fanbase voting for her.

LOOK AT THIS! CHILDHOOD OTP MAKING A COMEBACK IN 2018! Love seeing Syaoran and Sakura dominate their respective lists while Clear Card dominates the top anime list as well!

A fucking pink loli that runs like a chihuahua is over Rin Tohsaka. Truly Amazing!

Yeah but that loli will be forgotten within a year while Rin Tohsaka has been going strong for ages now.

Probably because Fate adaptations never end.

It is so great to see CCS in the top. Clear Card really sets a new standard for how an anime revival should be done. I am enjoying every episode of it.

Cutie pie Llenn on top 5 nice!

Nice to see Sakura and Syaoran in first place.

love how archer and saber pretty much never leave the top 5 ranking.

Same with kirito and asuna lol
Also lelouche will never go away it seems, especially with the new code geass coming out soon

I'm just happy Syaoran beat Kirito. Grats Sakura and Syaoran!

Wow, didn't expect to see Sugimoto in there! But since that's the case, Asirpa should have made top 10 as well!!

The fact that Asirpa isn’t on here is fucking nonsense.

I'm sure she'll be there in the next issue.

Today Japan had good taste

Is Kirito being n.2 "good taste"?

He's consistently in the top 3. He's also ranked 11th on MAL.

I honestly think it's due to large numbers of casual fans (not using that term as an insult) in the US and Japan who haven't seen that much anime and just pick the main character of their favorite show. I know I was certainly guilty of that when I was new. That isn't to say someone couldn't just genuinely like him as a character, but from my experience even seasoned viewers who like SAO agree he's a weak point of the show.

Not to be a downer, but it's literally the same group of characters getting ranked month in and out, save for the rare time a new(er) seasonal anime gets popular.

It might probably improve things a little with a good season 2, because things will start to get moving properly.
SAO takes the cake again with 3 characters in top 10s, though I am waiting for ggo to end to binge it.

My favorite series is representing. So glad Japan still loves Cardcaptor Sakura.
